The Reject Shop operates in the discount variety retail sector in Australia serving a broad range of value-conscious consumers who are attracted to low price points, convenient shopping locations and the opportunity to purchase a bargain.

We offer a wide variety of general consumer merchandise, with particular focus on: everyday needs - such as toiletries, cosmetics, homewares, personal care products, hardware, basic furniture, household cleaning products, kitchenware, confectionery and snack food; and lifestyle and seasonal merchandise - such as seasonal gifts, cards and wrap, toys, leisure items and home decorations.

Our business goes back over 30 years and here is a quick look at what we have achieved since we began:

  • 1981 - The Reject Shop was founded by Ron Hall and John Shuster with the first Melbourne store
  • 1985 - Ceased selling factory seconds and commenced discount variety retailing
  • 1989 - Commenced direct importing of merchandise from overseas
  • 1990 - Opened first 'Everything Here $2' store
  • 1990 - Expanded into NSW with first store at Pagewood
  • 1992 - Opened first store in SA at Elizabeth
  • 1993 - Selected as Dunn and Bradstreet Victorian Business of the Year award
  • 1994 - Private Equity invests to fund future growth
  • 2004 - The Reject Shop opened its 100th store
  • 2004 - The Reject Shop successfully listed on the Australian Stock Exchange at $2 per share
  • 2005 - The first QLD store opened in Pacific Fair
  • 2006 - The first WA store opened in Booragoon
  • 2006 - The last Everything Here $2 store closed
  • 2006 - Opened National Distribution Centre at Melbourne Airport
  • 2007 - The Reject Shop enters the ASX Top 300
  • 2008 - The first TAS store opened in Hobart
  • 2009 - Implemented SAP, the new IT enterprise system
  • 2009 - Opened 30 stores (23 opened in 22 weeks!)
  • 2010 - Opened second Distribution Centre in Ipswich, QLD
  • 2010 - The Reject Shop opened its 200th store
  • 2012 - The Reject Shop opened its 250th store
  • 2013 - The Reject Shop opened its 300th store
  • 2013 - Received the Roy Morgan Customer Satisfaction Award 2013
  • 2014 - Reached 100,000 fans on Facebook
  • 2014 - Launch of The Reject Shop Foundation
  • 2014 - Opened third Distribution Centre in Hazelmere, WA
  • 2014 - Received the Roy Morgan Customer Satisfaction Award 2014
  • 2015 - Raised over $250,000 for The Reject Shop Foundation
  • 2015 - Reached 200,000 fans on Facebook

  • 2017 - Opened third Distribution Centre in Truganina, VIC
